Northern Warehouse Artist Co-Operative
The Northern Warehouse Artists Cooperative is a collection of artists living in Saint Paul’s Lowertown neighborhood. Our members are writers, art teachers, dancers, designers, musicians, painters, potters, poets, photographers and more.
The Northern Warehouse Artists Cooperative (NWAC) opened in the fall of 1990. Built in 1908, it was a vacant warehouse when it became the first major Artspace development. It is now home to 52 households.
For almost 20 years, NWAC has made a commitment to providing affordable live/work spaces for artist.
The residents, who become members of the housing cooperative, elect a board of directors that is the governing body.
Each household is expected to participate on some level in the operation of the co-op ranging from serving as a board member, on a committee, or a more direct action such as recycling or preparing units for new members.
